In a move that has the cybersecurity world laughing nervously, APT36 and SideCopy have decided to treat the Indian defense sector like an all-you-can-eat data buffet. These cyber comedians have rolled out remote access trojans (RATs) across both Windows and Linux systems because why target one when you can target both?
Their tool of choice? A malware lineup complete with names more suitable for pets: Geta RAT, Ares RAT, and DeskRAT. Talk about RATs running wild! But don’t worry, these guys aren’t after your cheeseโjust sensitive data and eternal access to your precious systems.
As the Indian government scrambles to deal with this ‘charming’ invasion, one can’t help but wonder if these cyber intruders are the unwanted guests that just won’t leave. Maybe next time the defense sector should invest in some digital pest control. Who knew the age-old national security could be undone by a few lines of malicious code?
