🚨 Fake Cyber Onion Ad: Hackers hate this one weird trick.

In a stunt that’s been dubbed “Pi-rate Radio,” the notorious hacker group UNC2891 has infiltrated ATM networks using none other than a 4G Raspberry Pi. It’s rumored they were going to use an Arduino, but they couldn’t figure out which 100 ohm resistor to employ for a full-scale financial heist. Perhaps they should’ve just gone to Radio Shack.

The attackers reportedly got physical access to install these pint-sized computers directly onto ATM network switches. We can only assume this caused some awkward small talk at the bank, more awkward than asking for a $9.49 withdrawal.

Using their very own “CAKETAP” rootkit, UNC2891 has mounted their cyber-piracy. What genius came up with that name? Is this supposed to mean they’re raiding digital pastry shops? We don’t know, but we hope that CAKE isn’t the digital Carrot or Chocolate kind. That’d be taking sweet tooth crimes to new heights.

Meanwhile, the security teams involved are reportedly working on their own countermeasure, affectionately named PIEBOMB, in hopes of breaking up these Raspberry rascals before the banks become bakery chains.
