In a daring move reminiscent of a Bruce Lee film, China-linked hackers have apparently decided to give SQL servers a crash course in martial arts, exploiting them with the finesse of a black belt instructor. SAP NetWeaver, caught off guard, has been seen practicing tai chi in hopes of warding off the blows.
These cyber ninja attacks, believed to be part of a global tour, have targeted organizations in Brazil, India, and Southeast Asia. Experts say that the servers are currently stuck in an existential crisis, questioning their own identity as they try to understand how they got swept up in this international espionage kung fu hustle.
While the servers attempt to whisper ‘Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ Trend Micro reports that the hackers have been exploiting SQL injection vulnerabilities with a level of offensiveness last seen in a toddler’s food fight. In the meantime, IT departments worldwide are reportedly consoling their data systems, promising that they will never let kung fu hackers hurt them again.
